Although many Christians did not vote for President Obama because of his stance on marriage, abortion, and policies towards Israel – scripture declares that Christians should still pray for all political leaders in high office.  Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, or kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.”  (1 Timothy 2:1-5)  Therefore this scriptures encourages us to pray for every legislator despite any broad differences of opinion.

Many Christians who did not vote for former President Obama, based on their biblical convictions, still prayed for his salvation in Christ Jesus as well as his personal safety and the safety of his family.  This was very pleasing in God’s eyes despite the fact that President Obama showed frequent hostility to both the bible and the church in America.

Many Christians did not vote for President Trump although he is pro-life, favors traditional marriage and loves Israel.  Nevertheless they still pray for God to give him wisdom in dealing with our nation’s challenging issues and to do so with discretion and diplomacy.  They also pray for his safety and the safety of his family.

God requires us to pray for those who hold political office because He desires that all men receive Christ Jesus as their personal Savior and by receiving Christ they will come to the knowledge of Truth.  When they come to the knowledge of Truth – they are able to make decisions based on wisdom and godliness.  Christ Jesus was the Word (Truth) who came in the flesh.  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.”  (John 1:1-2)  “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.(John 1:14)  Christ Jesus made it perfectly clear that He is the Truth.  “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Oath of God Ministries urges Christians to pray for whoever is in high office. Christians should also pray for the individual’s family as well as the staff members of his administration.  This is done so that we can all live peaceable lives.  Whether specific prayer is focused on his salvation, safety or policy issues – we do urge prayer.  It is also important to remain sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit for redirection in praying for other men and women in political office as well.

Whenever possible – it is appropriate to visit with your local legislator to discuss bills that are in opposition to God’s truth.  You should also let your local and state legislators know when you support a quality bill that promotes righteous freedoms in your local district.  Legislators are typically pleased to hear from their constituents.  If you don’t speak up – you will probably find yourself more complacent, inoperative and complaining about conditions that otherwise might have been changed had you only visited with your local legislator.
