“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

James 4:17

We have listed a number of social injustices that we believe are critically important for both the Body of Christ as well as the general public to understand.

Change must always begin with the individual before the individual can truly change society.  Since believers have the indwelling Holy Spirit we should always be at the forefront to restrain evil in our society.   God clearly calls each of us to “To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke?”  (Isaiah 58:6)  Have you been obedient to this command?  If not, what are you doing with your time?

This may require speaking-up on behalf of the victim or taking godly action to defend the oppressed.  Godly action might be expressed in different ways depending on what is required to arrest the injustice.  God may require you to pray outside an abortion clinic, help establish a home for unwed mothers, start a legislative ministry, initiate a post-abortion healing ministry, coordinate street evangelism in your town, build a food pantry at your local church, volunteer at a local homeless shelter, mentor a teenager, become a Christian big-sister or Christian big-brother, volunteer at the Salvation Army, make a sacrificial donation to a cutting edge ministry, become a missionary, or volunteer at a local animal shelter.

Denial, procrastination, silence, laziness, and mentally suppressing the facts are sinful tactics which thwart justice from prevailing in our society.  We begin to believe the very excuses our mind creates in order to justify the status quo.  Oftentimes these excuses are nothing more than self-deception. One of the greatest lies is that it’s someone else’s job because we are too busy.

Can you imagine being victimized by an unrelenting circumstance of oppression and cruelty with no one to help you.  Yet millions of people live in hopelessness.  Please consider reaching out to someone else’s hopelessness with the same compassion so often expressed by Christ Jesus.  Please do not look the other way.  Ask the Lord to use you to alter the course of history in a lasting and positive way for Christ Jesus.

Life altering change always begins with prayer and it typically concludes with prayerful action.  Whatever plan God foreordained you to accept is the same plan that God will support.

We thank you for visiting our Social Injustice section.
