Praying for School Teachers and Students, Public Servants & Town Officials canstockphoto7831779

Pursuant to the Newtown massacre of 23 children and 8 teachers, the Lord spoke to me stating that churches should begin praying for their public servants, school officials, teachers and students.  It is presumptuous for anyone to assume that his school community is safe from the enemy.

All public servants are very important and church leaders should continually be building long-term relationships with their local public servants.  The first public servant to know is your local superintendent of schools.  The superintendent is the key steward over all the children in your town.  Those children represent the next generation.  Of course, the police chief, fire chief, and town officials are also very important and those relationships should be continually built upon as well.  Church leaders should already know their public servants on a first hand basis.  If a church leader doesn’t yet know his town officials or public servants then one must ask “Why not”?  Simply pick-up the phone and introduce yourself.  Invite them to your church.  Take them out to lunch but stop excusing yourself for not knowing them.

Sample Prayer Initiative

To properly illustrate this prayer initiative, we are using the Town of Barnstable in Massachusetts as our example.  Barnstable has (11) total public servant groups to pray over.  These groups include 1) Barnstable Police Department, 2) Barnstable Fire Department, 3) Barnstable Schools Central Office, 4) Barnstable Community Horace Mann Charter School, 5) Barnstable United Elementary, 6) Barnstable West Barnstable Elementary, 7) Centerville Elementary School, 8) Hyannis West Elementary, 9) West Villages Elementary, 10) Barnstable Intermediate School, and 11) Barnstable High School

The individual names of each public servant group can be accessed by visiting their public websites.  Please consider the following examples:

Local Prayer Initiative

This is a very aggressive prayer initiative in the spirit realm.  Some prayer tasks are considered mandatory for the success of the program and to properly protect prayer warriors from unnecessary attacks in the spirit realm.  This prayer initiative encompasses prayer over the individual names of each public servant, town official or school staff member.  Prayer should cover the entire body of students in very specific ways although individual student names are typically not available.

This prayer initiative was designed for conference prayer via telephone.  In other words, prayer members can remain at home, dial a convenient telephone number through freeconference.com, input their PIN number and enter the prayer conference.  Teams can also meet together rather than pray via a conference call.  The prayer warriors will be divided into teams.  Each team will have an assigned team leader.  The team leader will work with his/her own team members to establish a weekly prayer schedule.  The team leader will lead the team members into prayer each week.

Each week a prayer team will have its own public servant group to pray over.  A public servant group is defined as a specific elementary school, high school, police or fire department as well as town hall officials and their staff members.  A pdf file is created for each public servant group as illustrated earlier.  The pdf files should be rotated as frequently as possible as determined by the team leaders.  Individual names are listed on each pdf file.  The prayer warriors are expected to lift each name up to the Lord for supernatural protection, safety, wisdom, salvation, discernment, supernatural peace and mutual respect towards others.

We are suggesting an itemized list of instructions.  Although it is a very simple initiative the instructions are fairly detailed in nature.  This is to help keep everyone on track.

Suggested Prerequisites

1.  Rotate the public servant & school pdf files on a weekly basis.  This assures prayer over every individual public servant in your local town. Team leaders should meet together to determine the rotation schedule.  The rotation schedule is not a perfect science but team leaders should estimate how long each pdf file will take their teams to complete.  Rotation is very important.  It allows both veteran and new prayer warriors to learn about their town and public servants on a weekly basis and it prevents boredom.  Some pdf files will have a longer list of names and cannot be rotated every week.  Other teams can simply jump over those groups and begin praying over a new set of pdf names.  The rotation schedule should be established beforehand so that it systematically runs on its own.

2.  Some churches and their respective prayer groups are very small.  In this case, breaking into teams may not be feasible.  One team is sufficient but the rotation guidelines are suggested accordingly.

3.  Church members should be given the opportunity to sign-up to receive prayer for healing.  God wants a church that remains healthy and where the healing testimonies glorify Christ Jesus.  Every team will pray weekly for the sick.  This list is never rotated.  It remains constant for all teams.  Consider using the below pdf document which provides scripture on healing.

4. Church members should be given the opportunity to sign-up to receive prayer for any unmet needs pertaining to their businesses, income or jobs.  God wants His people to flourish even during difficult times.  Many Christians struggle daily at their place of business.  Some church members are challenged inside the corporate world.  Sole-proprietors might be struggling in various ways.  Other church members might need a better job or a second job.  Some members might be working three jobs and would prefer one solid job opportunity.  There may be a sole proprietor who wants to sell his business but needs prayer for the correct buyer to surface.  Other church members might desire to start their own business.  Please do not pursue this prayer initiative unless you intend to pray weekly over your church’s business community.  Please see the below pdf document which provides scripture on prosperity and integrity.

Prayer warriors should always pray for integrity and honesty in a believer’s business life before lifting any member’s name up to the Lord for financial favor, a promotion or new job.  An increase in favor and finances should be followed by an increase in tithing to the church as well.  Church members should realize that income increases should be properly tithed back into the church.

5.  Since this is an aggressive prayer initiative the team leaders should always pray over their teams for ongoing and supernatural protection.  This is probably the most important prerequisite.  It should never be excluded.  Please consider protecting your prayer warriors by using this specific method where teams pray for one another.  (Step 1) The team leader should conclude each session by lifting up each team member by name.  The team leader should be led by the Holy Spirit on how to pray for supernatural protection.  The team leader should include herself in prayer for supernatural protection.
(Step 2)  A prayer team member should consider volunteering to lift the individual names of the team in front of them.  For example, Team B should pray for Team A.  (Step 3)  A team member should volunteer to lift the individual names of the team behind them.  For example, Team B should pray for Team C.  In other words, always pray over the individual names for the team in front as well as the team in back of your team.  This way every team and every team member will receive a prayer of protection.  This is extremely important and should never be excluded.

Here are the basic instructions that the Lord showed me.  They are the following:

1.  The pastor or the lead intercessor should explain the prayer initiative to church’s congregation.

2.  The pastor should ask interested congregants to sign-up for this prayer initiative.  Congregants should provide both their telephone number and email address.

3.  The pastor should invite the church community to sign-up to receive prayer for any unmet healing.

4.  The pastor should invite the church community to sign-up to receive prayer for any unmet business or income need.

5.  Several members of a church can volunteer to gather the individual names of each public servant group.  The individual names of teachers, police officers and firemen can be retrieved by visiting the public servant group’s respective website.  Church volunteers should organize the names and list them on pdf files which can be distributed to everyone on a weekly basis per the agreed rotation schedule.

6. Once all the lists have been finalized the team leaders should be chosen.  The team leaders should meet to determine the number of teams and how many members per team.  The number of teams will differ between large churches and small churches.  Individuals should be evenly assigned to teams.  If you have 11 groups to pray over please consider establishing 11 prayer teams.  If you have (7) groups to pray over, please consider establishing (7) prayer teams.  Whenever possible this pattern should be followed.  Again this may differ with smaller churches and wisdom must prevail when making the final decision on how to divide the teams.

7.  Each team should have a team leader.  The team leader should be a mature intercessor.

8.  The team leader should sign-up at freeconference.com to receive a telephone and PIN number.  This information should be distributed to his/her prayer team members.

9.  Each team leader should discuss with his/her team members the best time to pray each week.

10.  The teams do not need to meet at a physical location.  They can remain at home and simply dial the conference number and input the PIN number using the telephone’s key pad.  However, if the team prefers to meet together this is perfectly acceptable.

12.  Team members can also sit at their computers while they are on the conference call.  They can pull up the pdf file that was sent to them via email for that particular week.  They can also print out the pdf files to read and pray elsewhere.

13.  Individuals who do not have a computer are at a disadvantage.  Therefore the church’s office can provide weekly copies of pdf files to these church members.  They can join their team’s conference call using a paper version of the prayer list of names.

14.  Each week team members can take turns going to the websites to gather news and updated information about the “town group” they are praying over for that particular week.  Sharing this information during the conference call will help all prayer warriors to better understand what is taking place in their local community.  It allows them to pray with a greater sense of understanding.

15.  You can invite your local police chief, fire chief, town official or superintendent of schools to speak to determine what prayer points might be important to them.
